Letter from the President

Happy Summer from your President!

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the May-June edition of the 2008 Newsletter series.  The newsletter and the website, www.spiritofstlpugfanciers.org  are the two primary forms of communication among members.  Since the first quarterly meeting, the SSLPF Board has met twice.  At each meeting, we have discussed “up and coming” events.  The Canine Good Citizen Classes held during the month of April were extremely well received.  A report from Susan Thornberry is included in this newsletter.  We appreciate all the hard work that was evident, in terms of the dedicated instructors, as well as the participants, “parents” and “pugs”.

The second quarterly meeting will be held Saturday afternoon, June 21, 2008,

12-4pm at the home of John and Diana Goslik. A special invitation is included in the newsletter. VISITORS AND PUGS ARE WELCOME. A brief business meeting will be held, along with reports from committees.  We are hopeful that we will be able to act on four pending membership applications. Those of you with applications on file, please make the effort to attend.  We look forward to meeting you, your families, and your pugs.  New members always bring new life and energy to clubs. We are always looking for new ideas.  All of our committees need help. Our committees include: Shows; Breeder Referral; Ways and Means; Pug Rescue; Social; Membership; Public Education; and Historian/Photographer. In the near future, we will be looking for someone to chair the nominating committee.  Susan Thornberry has resigned as the head of the Public Education committee.  We are looking for someone to fill this position.

Several “events” are in the future.  September will be a busy month for us.  Our third quarterly meeting will be held September 16th at the AKC Museum of the Dog.  On Thursday, September 18, 8-10 AM, Gray Summit, Missouri, the “Spirit of St. Louis Pug Fancier Speciality Show” will be held.  This event is being planned by Deb Vega and her committee.  They welcome your assistance as well as your support.  It will be a wonderful event just to observe. Finally, the “2008 Metro St. Louis Pug Rescue Pug Party” will be hosted at Queeny Park, Sunday, October 19.  There is a special flyer in the newsletter, seeking volunteers to assist with various activities of the day.  PLEASE VOLUNTEER!

Looking forward to seeing all of you,

 Marilyn
